I want to talk to you about stress.
Why? Because over 80% of the dental population have
reported their stress levels as being high or very high,
with over 60% experiencing burnout.
So what can we do about stress? The reality is we want to prevent it before you
get to that burnout stage, before you suffer with anxiety,
before you start phoning in sick.
So it's recognising that stress can start to creep in in small ways.
It can affect your productivity, your decision making, your ability.
To focus, your ability to make health positive behaviours.
It can affect your relationships, personal and work, so affect team dynamics significantly as
well. You don't show up as your best self when you're
experiencing stress, and it can be very, very difficult to regulate your emotions also.
So what can we actually do about it?
Well, I'm gonna share with you three top ideas that are different to just saying,
take a breath and have a holiday.
The first one is what I call set. Now what do I mean by set?
Set is about not just your mindset, but also your body set,
soul set and heart set.
So, mindset, shifting the way that you think about stress will then alter the
effect and the impact that it actually has on you.
Likewise, your heart set, the way you feel about things,
your body set, what you can physically do, and your soul set shifting your belief systems will
all have an impact on on you to make sure that stress is not so detrimental.
Number 2. Number 2 is about communication.
So this is not about boring old role play and let me learn how to speak to somebody or learn
how to speak to a patient. No, no, no, no, no.
This is powerful communication that I train our clients with at Med Dent,
and this is about needs-based communication, dynamic communication,
personality-based communication.
So we use science back data, we use assessments to work out what your energy type is,
what your personality type is, and therefore how you communicate best and also how you
elicit the best and most appropriate response from those around you,
be that your patient, your team members, or even taking it into your personal life.
So advanced communication training.
And the third thing is about authenticity. You know,
most people would rattle against that and say, Of course,
I'm authentic, but guess what?
As dentists, you are the most amazing people at wearing a mask.
And I am not talking about the one we take on and off with our patients.
I'm talking about this one because we are experts and smiling through everything and just
allowing everything to bury.
So when you learn, and you can learn to be your completely authentic self,
you will get so much more buy-in from your team, from your patients,
from those around you and feel far less stressed.
It's where you really learn to go through the flow.
There's no resistance stopping you.
So those are just 3 of the things that you can find out about on the groundbreaking Breathe
Dental wellness site.
This platform that is designed to support the entire oral health community and tackle stress
head on.
